One Year Ago, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 in Victoria, British Columbia. Canada.
That was my day. The woman dressed up as Bellatrix, I met her three days earlier -a Tuesday I think- in the bus. It’s sad I no longer remember her name, it truly is. I was in the bus, tired and wondering where my roommate would be, and then this funny looking woman with a nice pixie cut came and sat next to me with her laptop open; I couldn’t help but look at what she was watching in her laptop… and I couldn’t help to think it was rather familiar, it took me a bit less than a minute to realize what I was seeing… Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
I told myself to calm down and don’t stare a million times, but then I took a moment to see the woman again… she was wearing Dobby and Harry pins in her coat, and even a Ravenclaw scarf. Again, instinct won me and I poked her Dobby pin -because well, I love Dobby. She turn and said hi.
What kind of person doesn’t go nuts because you poked her? I would probably have looked the person weird… BUT THE WOMAN SAID HI! And we started to talk! Like, from downtown to where I went down -where it turned out she went down too!- all we did was talk. She paused the movie, and I told her I recognized the movie… she told me she was currently watching them all… she told me about her plans of going dressed up as Bellatrix to the premier… and she showed me pictures of her testing the costume and everything! I listened, and we discussed how bad it was that the movies where coming to an end… but she told me that Harry Potter would never be over, because well… we the fans would never allow that.
Then, the day of the midnight premier -the one I was not attending to, sadly- I went up to visit her… and let me tell you I almost cry of happiness. Seeing the enormous line to see the movie, people arriving, people reading Deathly Hallows, people taking pictures, comparing costumes, it was just oo much. And there she was, at the very beginning of the line, my friend Bellatrix. She kinda introduced me to Snape, Molly, Dobby, Luna, and some Hogwarts students. We went up to the parking lot to scream ‘MORSMORDE’ because 6 hours to the premier where now the hours to wait. It was just the best thing ever.
I had to leave because I had to go to dinner, but the next day -exactly a year ago- me and 4 friends were the ones responsible for the whole school to go out earlier than usual, just for us to get in time to the screening of the movie. The five of us, we were there, all ready for 3D, and we were one of the lucky ones to get special 3D glasses.
I won’t talk about all the feelings I got from the movie, because writing this has already put me super emotional. but I’ll take a moment to remember… that it is true we will never let Harry Potter die.
I want to know what Ron was mumbling to her.
“We’ll make it through this, I promise.”
“And then we’ll go on a proper date. I’ll buy you dinner, flowers—I mean, if you like that, that is. I’ll make up for every bicker we’ve ever had. And—I—I love you, Hermione—”
